About the author

variantmanagement.com is the personal project of Julian Weyer, an expert in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), and variant management for complex, software-driven products.
Julian’s career has been shaped by a fascination with the challenges and opportunities of variant-rich products — ranging from automotive systems and automation components to industrial equipment and software-defined vehicles. He brings a unique perspective, having worked across diverse roles in product marketing, sales, order engineering, and as both an internal and external consultant.
This broad experience enables him to bridge the gap between business and IT, always with the goal of making complex processes and product structures as clear and manageable as possible.
Born in Heilbronn, Julian studied Production and Logistics at Hochschule Heilbronn, where he earned his degree as a Diplom-Ingenieur. After his civil service with the German Red Cross, he gained hands-on experience in both technical and leadership roles at companies such as SCHUNK, J.A. Becker & Söhne, and BASF, before moving into consulting.
Today, he is a consultant at BHC / PROSTEP, where he develops innovative PLM and ALM solutions, contributes to industry publications, and shares his expertise through lectures and workshops.
Julian’s approach is characterized by curiosity and a holistic view of end-to-end processes. He is passionate about designing systems and methods that make even the most complex product variants understandable and manageable—ensuring that customers and stakeholders can focus on what really matters.
At variantmanagement.com Julian shares insights, methods, and best practices for mastering the complexity of variant management in today’s rapidly evolving, software-driven product landscapes.
